It is an absolute matter of pride, when your country name praised loud in the greatest stage of world. The happiness multiplied many times when you are leading the world from the front as a path finder. Sir CV Raman is one of those who raises the level of Triranga many times with his magnificent achievements.
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman also known as C.V.Raman was born on 7th November 1888 at Tiruchirapalli in Madras Presidency of British India in a Brahmin family.He was the first Asian to setup a milestone in the history of physics by getting Noble prize in Physics.He was a very sassy child, completed his secondary and higher secondary education from Saint Aloysius Anglo Indian High school at the age of 13 and topped the bachelors degree examination at very young age of 16 from the University of Madras with honours in physics from Presidency College simultaneously published his research paper in 1906 on diffraction of life and published his second paper in same journal in 1907 on surface tension on liquid.
After completing his master is he was invited to join Indian finance service in Kolkata as assistant accounting general . He had not any PhD degree still he was appointed as palit professor in University of Calcutta.In 1921 he visited oxford to deliver a lecture at the Congress of University of the British Empire he hade earned quiet a reputation by then and his host were Noble laureate JJ Thomson and lord rutherford.
While traveling to the Europe he observed blue color of Mediterranean sea,he was aware with the Rayleigh Experiments but not totally agree,so while returning he used Polaroid Nicol prism and concluded that it's not just the reflection of sky on the sea it is the diffraction of light from the subatomic particles of an element which give it a specific color.He published his journal on Nature . On 28 February 1928 today this day is celebrated as national science day, due to his discovery of Raman effect British government honoured him with the title of Sir CV Raman in 1929 later on that effect is known as Raman effect and for this he was awarded by noble prize In 1930 and Bharat Ratna by Indian government.
His discovery had a great contribution in the field of quantum mechanics, chemistry and medical also .Raman effect used in detecting bomb and illegal substances,in detection of cancerous cell in brain .one of hismost famous statement is I AM THE MASTER OF MY FAILURE,IF I NEVER FAIL HOW WILL I EVER LEARN and he really proved this.
Sir CV Raman did his maximum work during the time when India was ruled by the British, despite a lack of exposure and infrastructure, he managed to achieve great heights barefoot. He was a very down-to-earth person, and his love for his country can be seen in his attire. In his lifetime, he was associated with many prestigious institutes like IISC, Bangalore. Under his guidance, many budding scientists blossomed and filled the scientific world with their sweet fragrances.
